It is essential you take care of your skin year-round. In the winter months however, our complexion often needs slightly different care and specific products. But who really has time for some elaborate 17-step program for skin maintenance? We’re all about making skincare as easy as possible, so below we outline a simple 4-step skincare routine to keep your complexion glowing and clear in the winter months.
1. Cleanse
Firstly, wash your face with a gentle, natural soap. This will cleanse your skin and remove daily impurities such as makeup, sweat and pollution. If you are wearing stubborn makeup, you may need to wash your face twice or use an additional make-up remover.
The Ekko reusable wipes work perfectly for this and they are a much better choice for the environment than disposable wipes as they can be washed and reused up to 200 times!
2. Mask
Once your skin is cleansed, apply a clay mask. A clay mask will remove dead skin from the surface of your face and draw out impurities from deep within your pores. This ensures your complexion remains clear and your pores are minimised as they are not congested or blocked.
A green clay mask is a perfect choice because it will soak up any excess oils, unclogging your pores and protecting your skin.
3. Moisturise
After washing off your clay mask, apply a rich moisturiser to your skin. Adding a few drops of rosehip oil can help to boost the hydrating effect of your moisturiser and deliver serious nourishment to your complexion. Rosehip oil is non-comedogenic so it will not clog your pores and can be used daily, or when required.
Using an oil blend, like our Rose & Hibiscus Body Oil is perfect because it can be used on both the body and the face.
4. Lip balm
Many people forget to give their lips the care and attention they deserve. Ensure to generously apply lip balm to your lips in the evening and morning to ensure you lips are nourished and do not crack or become dry. You should take care to use lip balm after wearing makeup as many lipsticks can cause dry, flaky skin to appear on the lips.
Should you find that the Winter air has caused your lips to crack too much, try using a lip scrub before applying your lip balm for that extra touch of smoothness.
