SOME TIPS TO HELP YOU RELAX

May 29, 2022

We have been flat out over the last couple of months, we've been travelling up and down the east coast going to markets, making sure the store, the market stalls and all of our stockists have all of the stock they need and not to mention Mother's Day (the busiest time of the year for us) was right in the middle of all of that. But things have slowed down a bit starting this weekend, and we are finally getting a chance to relax. Relaxing is something I think I have down to an artform, but I know a lot of you out there have a bit of trouble. So I've put together a quick list of some of the easiest ways to quickly lower stress and chill TF out.

1. Take some time to meditate.
There's a reason this is at the very top of the list. Meditation enables us to see our thoughts and emotions objectively and without judgement.

"Research suggests that everyday meditation may alter the brain's neuronal connections, making you more adaptable to stress," explains psychologist Robbie Maller Hartman, Ph.D.

Even if you only meditate for 10 minutes a day, you will notice a considerable reduction in your tension and anxiety almost immediately. Meditation has been shown in studies to not only help with stress reduction, but also to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease when practised regularly.

2. Take a big breath.
"Breathing is the number one and most effective approach for swiftly lowering anger and anxiety," says therapist Scott Dehorty, LCSW-C.

When you're attempting to learn how to relax quickly, breathing techniques can be really beneficial. This can be done at any time and in any location. All you need to do is stop for 5 minutes and concentrate on your breathing. Inhale fresh cool air via your abdomen and exhale warm air, letting go of all stress.

"Deep breathing counteracts the effects of stress by decreasing the heart rate and lowering blood pressure," explains Judith Tutin, Ph.D., a certified life coach and psychologist.

3. Make an effort to be mindful.
Shift your focus away from negative thoughts and towards the current moment if you want to lessen tension, anxiety, and fear right now.

Instead of focusing on the past or worrying about the future, you will be able to appreciate the beauty buried in the now by becoming aware of it. Mindfulness enables you to live in the present moment, which is all we have.

It will allow you to take a breather, calm down, and appreciate the present moment. So, whenever you're feeling anxious, focus on your senses to instantly relax. This is one of the most effective methods for learning to relax.

4. Examine your entire physique.
Mentally scanning your body can help you understand where you're holding tension, how it's affecting you, and how to relieve stress.

Simply sit comfortably or lie down on your back and scan your entire body from your toes to your scalp. Gently observe how each part of your body feels as you move through it.

You can help your body relax by merely scanning it for two minutes. While scanning, take a deep breath into your body and envision fresh breath coming to the body area you're looking at. Repeat the method for each body part, paying attention to the sensations.

5. Put on some music.
All you have to do to learn how to relax is plug in your earbuds and listen to your favourite music. Music, according to experts, has an instant relaxing influence on our mind and body.

"Results demonstrated that simply listening to music was beneficial in reducing subjective stress levels," the study stated. When'relaxation' was reported as the reason for listening to music, the most substantial benefits were observed, with subsequent decreases in subjective stress levels and lower cortisol concentrations."

Furthermore, listening to music that you enjoy can lower your anxiety, heart rate, and blood pressure.

6. Consider hydrotherapy.
Splashing cold water on your face and pulse points might help you feel invigorated while also lowering your body temperature. Because major arteries travel through the wrists, running cold water or putting ice on them might help you relax rapidly.

7. Go outside and get some sun.
For a short while, get out of your house or office and feel the warm sun on your skin. The sunshine's vitamin D can instantly improve your attitude.

8. Go for a brisk stroll.
For just 10 minutes, getting some fresh air and moving your body will clear your mind and prepare you for the duties ahead.

9. Have a good laugh!
Make your friends and family laugh out loud. To experience a full-on laugh-out session, watch your favourite sitcoms or amusing videos on YouTube.

10. Practice manifestation.
Imagine what you want – your goals, aspirations, and dreams — and how you want to feel about it in your mind.

11. Consume the right foods.
Dark chocolate, honey, and green tea are all known to help relieve tension and anxiety.

12. Smell the grapefruits
According to studies, the zesty aroma of grapefruit might assist to alleviate tension and anxiety while also boosting your mood. Our Grapefruit essential oil packed, lip balms, scrubs, body oil and bath salts are perfect for a quick mood boost.

That's all there is to it! It's simple to unwind.
