Right now I think it’s safe to assume that a lot of us are feeling a bit blah about the state of things, I know I am. I just started listing all of the crappy things happening in the world right now and it was too depressing, so I deleted it. Instead, when it seems that the weight of the world is getting a bit too heavy, what really helps me out of my funk is practicing gratitude.
When I say clean it up, I don’t mean your language, just your surroundings. This might be pretty self explanatory to some of you, but I know there a few people who might need a reminder. As well as cleaning unwanted dust (which is 75% dead skin cells ew), bacteria and germs, and just plain old rubbish. Cleaning your house is proven to lift your mood as well. You don’t have to do it all at once, but here are a few things to tackle when you get some time. Aim for one per day off. I’ve been doing this over the last few weeks and it’s really helping me enjoy my space and my belongings more.
I feel like it’s something we’ve been hearing for our whole lives, ‘Get more sleep’ but sleep hygiene is an often overlooked part of everyone’s self care regime that we all need to try a little bit harder to conquer. Personally, I’ve had insomnia since I was very very young so anytime there is an article on how to get better sleep, believe that I have read it and tried it. And all the fads, tried them too. Here are the ways that I know will help you on your way to great sleep hygiene and better overall self safe.
We all need a little or a lot of self-care sometimes. That doesn’t always mean throwing on a face mask and binging Law & Order SVU with a glass of red (although when you do, THIS is the face mask to use). Self-care is about YOU looking after your mind, body and soul. So over the coming weeks we wanted to talk about some of our favourite ways to self care that cover more than just what you see on your ig feed. This week I want to talk about meditating.
